With eZürich, one of four legislation focal points, the City of Zurich has decided to focus exclusively on promoting and interlinking the ICT sector. eZürich should help to provide the numerous existing companies, start-ups and citizens with more information about each other, thereby improving the prerequisites for the entire sector. Within the next 10 years, the ICT sector should enjoy the same reputation as the Swiss financial sector!

Head of the Finance Department of the City of Zurich

Education, research and innovation are essential for the economic and social development of any region. Each country as well as each company has to find its way either to reach or to hold a top position in competitiveness and innovation. Smart strategies have to be followed. On the one hand Governments are responsible for intelligent policies and suitable framework conditions and on the other hand companies have their responsibilities for clever strategies and innovative products, processes and services. Information Technology plays a key role and international cooperation should not to be neglected.

India and Europe ought to cooperate more closely, especially in the field of IT. As both regions have a lot in common: for example specialised workforce, innovative milieu, etc. Europe can learn from India in the following dimensions: entrepreneurship, risk taking, grabbing opportunities and so on.

I am proud that Switzerland hosts this year’s European IT Conference. This venue is a great opportunity for companies, policy makers and innovators to broaden their own view, discuss future perspectives and deepen business relations.

Dr. Franziska Schwarz Director
Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology (OPET)

We are glad that India has become the preferred partner globally for many organizations and governments in the IT space. India's IT industry has acted as a catalyst and has transformed the Indian economy becoming a stalwart growth engine.

The European IT Conference - "Innovate & Collaborate with India” - invites leading organizations, businessmen, thinkers, analysts, bankers, and government functionaries from across Europe to network and explore business opportunities with Indian IT companies and discover and devise new strategies that spell success in a dynamic, challenging global environment.

Rajendra S Pawar
Chairman Designate
NASSCOM

It is my sincere pleasure to warmly welcome you on behalf of SWICO to the European IT Conference.

The ICT industry in Europe is in an excellent growth mode and Zurich in the heart of Europe is playing a major role in this. India has been involved in many major projects throughout Europe for many years and plays an important role in delivering complex projects with well educated, innovative engineers.

Without the resources from abroad, we would limit our growth opportunities and therefore we need to ensure that our political systems are open to support enough work visas for these essential tasks. This conference is a great place to meet new people, discover new collaboration opportunities and learn what value-add India can bring to the business in Europe.

Andreas Knöpfli President

Successful public-private partnerships and international collaboration are two important factors for innovation, a key driving force behind our society. With respect to Information technology India is known as one of today’s main players in software development with a great experience in global sourcing.

On the other hand, the Swiss and European IT industries are world leaders in applied IT solutions and data security. We are thus proud to host the European IT Conference 2011 bringing together these two forces with the aim of jointly creating solutions for the future.

Prof. Dr. Roland Siegwart
Vice President for Research and Corporate Relations
ETH Zurich

India's IT sector has grown exponentially in the past decades due to the engineering prowess, resourcefulness and single-minded focus of its players. It is no surprise that today India is a global leader in IT software development and outsourcing.

Switzerland and Europe have much to gain from India's IT expertise and best practices both for enhancing their own development and growing potential markets through partnerships in India.

The EITC, which will host a who's who of India's IT industry, is a terrific place to launch such collaborations and strengthen existing ties. I invite Swiss and European companies from the IT and allied sectors to benefit from this unique opportunity.
